Birdbook
Maintenance - Operations Integration
The primary goal of the Birdbook is to aid in the relationship between Maintenance and Operations.
The Birdbook provides a digital, cloud-based solution to rapidly track various deficiencies in aircraft systems. This aids operations and subsequent flight crews in understanding any issues that may be present for aircraft they are stepping to.
Additionally, while maintenance utilizes their forms for creating and tracking any discrepancies, these entries are typically cleared once actions have been taken. This means that any type of trend information can easily be lost.
By aggregating and following data trends, organizations are able to track if a system or aircraft has a track record of acting up.
Data resliency and security
Due to the sensitive nature of this information, organization data is hosted privately on the AWS GovCloud, a FEDRAMP certified cloud instance authorized to operate up to Impact Level 4 (IL4). This means the Birdbook is able to handle and store information up to and including Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
Users must utilize Multi-Factor Authentication in order to access the Birdbook information.
Scheduling integrations
We want to make the use of the Birdbook as easy as possible for daily operations. To facilitate this, we have integrated G/TIMS and Gonkulator scheduling exports with our schedule module. This allows an easy way to create a daily lineup to display a mission board of jet health.
Project status, feedback, and feature requests
The Birdbook is under active development. Our team is actively pursuing SBIR Direct-to-Phase II contracts to aid in organizational ability to try out the Birdbook while using annual Squadron Innovation Funds (SIF).
While in this phase, organization feedback and requests are greatly appreciated as it helps to make the product better for everybody.
Specific feedback and requests are truly helpful for:
- Aircraft attribute graphics (if desired)
- Scheduling program integration
- General display / formatting
- Additional features
- Bug reports
