Write-ups
Write-ups are available to all users.
Write-ups are intended to mirror aircraft maintenance form inputs. This means that for invidivual aircraft issues, separate write-ups need to be created. This allows accurate trend data to be created for further analysis of any larger system trends or aircraft trends.
Creating
To create a write-up, click the Create new write-up button and input the following information:
| Field | Required? | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Pilot name | ✅ | This is the PIC for the aircraft at the time of the incident. |
| Date of flight | ✅ | This field will default to today's date, however, it is the date of the flight when the incident occurred. |
| Code | ✅ | Select the applicable code in the upper right of the form associated with the incident. |
| System | ❔ | System is required when not writing a Code 1 or Information note write-up. Select the system from the drop down. You may type the system in order to search for it within the dropdown. |
| Subsystem | ❌ | When the system is selected, you may further refine the write-up by selecting the applicable subsystem. |
| Serial number | ❌ | If the administrator has designated this subsystem as needing a serial number, an input will be displayed for you to input. This is useful for things such as CATM / TGP issue tracking. |
When you are complete, click the Save writeup button.
Editing
If a write-up needs to be edited after the fact, in case an error was made, users are able to edit the writeup by clicking the Edit writeup button. The write-up form will be displayed with the current information for the user to edit. Click the Save changes button when complete.
Clearing
If a write-up has been fixed by maintenance, or is otherwise no longer occurring, users are able to clear writeups by clicking the Clear writeup button. This write-up will be placed into an Archived status such that it is still viewable and attached to the aircraft, however it will not be typically displayed.
Duplicating
If a write-up is present within the Birdbook for the aircraft, but continues to occur, users may duplicate a write-up by clicking the Duplicate writeup button. The write-up form will be displayed with the code, system, subsystem, serial number, and narrative of the previous write-up. The user must enter their own name and date of flight for the new write-up.
