Joining an Organization

A key feature of Birdbook is the Squadron hierarchy which matches the typical Flying Wing organizational structure. You must be a part of an organization in order to use Birdbook.

Creating an organization

Units who wish to try or use the Birdbook may do so by emailing support.birdbook@tfinnovations.com. Our team will help explain the process, answer questions, and create an organization for you to start using the service.

Organization administrators have the ability to create invitation links. Once an invitation link is created, it should be dissiminated or posted to allow unit members to easily join Birdbook.

Invitation links may be emailed out in their plain URL format. Birdbook also will generate a QR code for users to scan with their mobile devices to visit the URL.

More information

For information on creating invitations, visit the Invitation management page.

When using an invitation link, the user will be asked to sign into their Birdbook account. If you have not yet created an account, you will be asked to register an account. Clicking the Create an account button will retain the invitation information and will allow the user to join the invitation after creating an account.

Otherwise, when signing into your account, or if you are already signed into your account, the user will be added to the organization.

Invitation properties

Invitations may be created with a specific role and expiration date. Ensure the correct invitation link is presented to users as they will be added as that specific role with role permissions. If a user attempts to use an invitation link that has expired, they will be notified that the invitation link is invalid and must talk with their uniit's Birdbook administrator to receive a new invitation link.

In order to allow for further security, administrators have the ability to require the use of an invitation link to be approved by an administrator. If an invitation that has been marked as requiring approval is used, the user will be notified of this.

Multiple organizations

Users may be a part of multiple organizations. This is a unique case that typically occurs for support personnel. Users may join a second organization using the same invitation process above.
